More information below and factoids about Junteenth below:

Do you know the reason Juneteenth is celebrated?  It is known as the day the message of the Emancipation Proclamation – freedom granted to slaves – was announced in Texas.  It can be noted that this was two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was originally issued – which was in September 1862.  2016 commemorates the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth.

The Juneteenth Celebration Commemorating African-American Emancipation is a time for reflection, rejoicing, and planning for the future. It allows our youth and our families to come together in a safe and friendly environment. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Thompson Place Golf Development Program.

THIS EVENT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC

The JuneTeenthNashville Celebration will be opened with inspiring and motivational words from Pastor Reverend Espinoza from Ray of Hope. There will also be music performers, dancers, poets, vendors and FOOD!
