CeCe Winans Performs Holiday & Hits with the Nashville Symphony

Ten-time Grammy Award Winning gospel artist Cece Winans gave us hits and holiday in her December 7th performance “Holiday and Hits with the Nashville Symphony” at the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony.  Read on to hear about the performance!

Dressed in a festive a flowing dress Cece Winans started the night performing some of her hits from her latest studio album “Let Them Fall in Love” in front of an audience of adoring fans, including myself.  I’ve been a fan of the Winans family and love the legacy of music and song the family has created for themselves.  Throughout the night Cece acknowledged her family that was in attendance to view the night’s performance including her husband, her sister, and her son.

Songs went from praise and worship to prayer and reflection.  One song called “Hey Devil {Get Behind Me}” had a swing to it and made me want to The Swim dance from the 60s.  A song that resonated with me was Lowly, where Cece Winans reminded us to stay humble and that the highest is for the low key.  Another song that CeCe had the audience sing with her, call and response style was “Never Have to Be Alone.”

At this point, some choir members from her church Christ the King and Born Again joined her on stage and she really took it to church with the song “Dancing to the Spirit.”  I really enjoyed seeing everyone let loose to the gospel song.  The ladies in front of me even hooked arms and rocked and swayed Rockette style (minus the high kicks).  Finally, she ended the hits segment of her performance with her title track “Let Them Fall in Love With You.”  The organ solo and the guitar solo really moved the spirit in the room.  The crowd in the balcony behind the stage seemed to be the true backup choir!

After a 20 minute intermission, CeCe Winans and choir rejoined the stage in a gorgeous holiday red dress to begin her holiday portion of the show.  The audience joined in singing Christmas carols including The First Noel, Joy to the World, O Holy Night, Silent Night, and ended with We Wish You A Merry Christmas.  A wonderful time was had by all and we exited the building wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
