Bilal is a soul singer who is obviously influenced by Prince with his falsetto and quirky style. The City Winery space was lit with a low light candle glow that set the soulful mood. I ordered my favorite white wine from City Winery the 615 chardonnay. Right on time, the lights started to dim and the band began to play warm up tunes.
Ten minutes later, Bilal hit that stage. He wore an African print top that was belted at the waist, his hair cornrowed to the back, slacks, and boots that look to be ankle length.
Here’s Bilal singing my favorite song from his latest album In Another Life “Pleasure Toy”
Bilal often played with the audience by asking the women about our shoes and he pointed to a friend of mine Aerial Ellis, and asked about her shoes specifically. Bilal knows he’s a flirt. He then sang “My Type of Girl.”
If you look on my videos there was a guy in a green guitar who was really jamming!
We all know we lost the great Purple One Prince this year, and the world is still mourning our loss. Bilal then sang a tribute to Prince “Beautiful Ones.”
